When we opened our doors in 2004, one of our first requests was to add some gluten-free options for a customer who's son had just been diagnosed with Celiacs. As our business grew, so did our experience—and so did the number of people switching over to a gluten-free lifestyle. It began to shape and define us: how we ordered, what to look for hidden on ingredient labels, how to set up our kitchen and our system of food preparation to eliminate any cross contamination, what products taste the best and which ones need to be left behind. With the amount of practice we get, it comes as no surprise that we are in a class by ourselves. We offer the best tasting, most wide-ranging and safest gluten-free menu on Cape Cod.
And that commitment carries over to our new dinner menu as well. Chef Diane Lipinski comes to us already an expert in the preparation and execution of gluten-free fare. Her entire Appetizer & Entrée menu is, or can easily be made, gluten-free. Just request it when you order.
As we are not strictly a gluten-free restaurant, please inform your server if you or any one in your party has an allergy. 90% of what we carry is already gluten-free, but we have marked on our menu items that are not to make it easier to order.

Like our gluten-free offerings, vegan dining requires a little extra attention and creativity to make it succeed. But we live for a challenge. And the reward is worth it. Adopting a more conscious way of eating should not mean sacrificing great taste, or great choices. To that end, we have carefully shaped our menu in a way that allows a vegan alternative to almost everything we offer.
We feel confident in saying that ours is the best vegan menu on Cape Cod. We’ve been doing vegan longer than anyone else. In fact, we started our vegan menu before Cape Cod suppliers even considered carrying vegan products—relying instead on obscure and alternative sources to procure ingredients. We’ve watched a lot of places come and go, or try to jump on the bandwagon, only to watch them fade away or never fully commit.
A large part of our success comes from the fact that we genuinely care. Our vegan menu is not an afterthought; we don’t have it just to have it. And though we are not strictly a vegan restaurant, the vegan menu is an integral part of who and what we are.

change is never easy, but it always leads to something better
For those guests who only know us as their place to grab a muffin or a coffee on their way to somewhere else, it may comes as a shock that we have moved on from our humble beginnings and will no longer offer morning fare. This was not a decision we arrived at lightly, and one we put off for well over a year. We knew people would get riled up, and in all likelihood, abandon us altogether out of principle. We understand; we get it. The idea of a little hideaway coffee shop is a romantic one. It just isn't a realistic one. Especially for us. So the choice for us was simple: evolve, or shutter our doors for good.
We chose change.
But then we like change. It’s not for everybody, we get that—and that’s fine. So it might help to think of this not so much as a reinvention as it is a refocus toward what we do best. Hurry and fast are not what we’re about, and we’ve never claimed to be as such. There are plenty of places around here that hang their hat on speed. We’re about quality and creativity. We want you to sit awhile, savor your food, enjoy the company you’re with. A bagel sandwich is a bagel sandwich and carries a certain expectation no matter where or how it’s served. It’s a walk-in, walk-out, on-the-go kind of food. Not our strong suit. So rather than creating the memorable experience we strive for, what we created, by-and-large, was frustration.
So far, the response has been exceptional. Long-time customers who were skeptical about our proposed changes have been surprised to discover just how much sense it all makes. You feel it the moment you walk through the door. A charge in the air; a revived excitement. For us, we feel more aligned to our purpose than ever before, and it shows. We sincerely hope that you will continue along this journey with us, and share in the discoveries it has to offer.
